The surrounding of Centre offers mainly touristic and sporting opportunities.
You can visit beautiful places in the Jizera Mountains as Ořešník, Polední kameny, waterfalls of Černý potok, Jizerskohorské beech woods etc. Very popular is the watchtower at the top of the Smrk (1124 metres above sea level) which was opened in 2003. When the weather is good, it offers a lovely perspective at the Frýdlant promontory.
In summer you should surely visit local outdoor swimming pool which is only 10 minutes far away from the building. If you like riding the bike you can use the bus and go to the Smědava and you can lend the bike here. The surface of Jizera Mountains is ideal for beginner even for more exacting people.
The city Lázně Libverda is 2 kilometres far away from the Centre. It is famous for a local spa. You can go for a walk there and taste the acidulous water or if you are hungry you should step up to the restaurant Obří sud. From here starts the Singltrack – the one- direction way through the mountains. The net of ways get to the leght of 80 kilometres in 2012 and it leads to Poland.
In winter you may get to the 350 metres long lift which is located under the peak of Ořešník. It is ideal for beginners. The journey to the lift takes about 10 minutes. For more exacting people is good to visit the winter Centre Stog Izerskie which is 20 kilometres far away from the Centre (8 kilometres from Nové Město pod Smrkem). There is a cable car for 8 people from Czerniawa Zdrój to the top of Stóg Izerski near the spa city Swieradow Zdrow. For visitors are prepared more than 2500 metres of downhill ways.
In case of inclement weather you may go to the castle Frýdlant which was found in 13th century by the clan of Biberštejn. Through the ages the castle was the property of Redern´s clan, Albrecht z Valdštejna, the clan of Gallas and Clam-Gallas.
