The East Bohemian town of Litomyšl emerged in the 13th century on the site of an older fortified settlement on the Trstenice path - an important trading route linking Bohemia and Moravia.

The dominant feature of Litomyšl is the monumental Renaissance castle dating from years 1568 - 1581. The buildings of the castle precincts are not only exceptional for their architectural refinement, but have also inscribed themselves in history as the birthplace of the Czech national composer, Bedrich Smetana. On the elongated square, which is one of the largest in the Czech Republic, stands a town hall of Gothic origin and a series of Renaissance and baroque houses, many with arcades and vaulted groundfloor rooms. One of the most important of these is the House At the Knights with its remarkable facade. In the past the town was also a significant religious centre, it was in Litomyšl in 1344 that the second bishopric to be established in Bohemia was founded.

The cultural traditions of the town go much beyond regional and national frontiers. The exquisite interiors of the castle, especially teh baroque castle theatre, the amphitheatre in the castle park and Smetanas house, all offer varied programmes of concerts and theatrical performances and thus emric te life of te town throughout the year. Litomyšl came to public notice in a political context as well: in 1994 the meeting of the seven Central European presidents took place at the castle, and in 1995 the Spanish royal couple visited the town. The chateau complex was included in the UNESCO List of cultural monuments 1999. Litomyšl was awarded "Historical Town of the year 2000".

Hotel Zlatá Hvězda has 32 rooms in this composition: 6 single rooms (two of them with possibility of extra bed), 23 double rooms (7 twin, 11 double, 5 variable beds), 3 apartments (possibility of extra beds) - the total are 58 beds and 11 extra beds. The Smetana´s suite No. 102 - luxurious suite is dedicated to a composer Bedřich Smetana who was born in the local brewery. A bedroom is decorated by original sculpture inspired by Smetana´s Lullaby. A bathroom offers a bath with hydromassage. The Vault suite No. 101 - a dominant feature of this room is an authentic safe-deposit. It has been here since the time the hotal was a seat of Regional credit bank. A bedroom is decorated with motives of old Czech banknotes and an original bathroom is placed just in the space of the safe-deposit. The Zoubek´s suite No. 205 - suite for two persons with a possibility of the two extra beds oriented to a quited part of the town is dedicated to the Czech sculptor, who is contributed to the development the Czech architectural sculptures and is one of the most important Czech sculptors today.. Room No. 01 - this double room has other room with hydromassage bath and steam cabine and own entry to the terrace. Room No. 206 - double room is equipped with a bathroom with a hydromassage bath, own entry to the sauna and terrace. Room No. 407 -unique attic room with an original double bed, bathroom with a hydromassage bath with chronotherapy. 

Our restaurant provides a wide-range of culinary delicacy including vegetarian meals, foreign cuisine as well as traditional Czech specialties.
